Respectful Conduct

A Welcoming Place for All

At the Rodin Museum, we strive to be a welcoming place for all. Our expert and dedicated staff is here to provide you with an enjoyable visit and ensure an environment of respect for our community, one another, and the art. To help us accomplish this, we ask you to be respectful to our staff and fellow visitors and follow our visiting guidelines. If you choose not to, we reserve the right to ask you to leave or revoke your membership or admission.

Visitor Alerts

Coat Check

Travel light and store larger items at our self-serve coat check. Backpacks, bags larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches, large umbrellas, and selfie sticks are not permitted in the galleries. Smaller bags must be carried on one shoulder or handheld.

Bag Inspection

Bags are subject to inspection as you enter and leave the building.

Things to Know During Your Visit

Parking

Limited metered parking available on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, N 21st Street, and N 22nd Street. Parking also available at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Parking Garage (located across from the main building on Anne d’Harnoncourt Drive).

Accessibility

A barrier-free entrance, accessible restrooms, wheelchairs, and more are available. If you have any questions, email AccessProg@philamuseum.org.

Daily Tours

Go on a tour of the collection with folks in the know. Tours are offered daily and are free after admission.

Families with Young Children

  • Little ones are welcome—kids are always free.
  • Stay together. The best way to look at art is as a family so stay with your children throughout your visit. Hold very young children by the hand.
  • Strollers are permitted in most areas. For safety reasons, strollers are not allowed in certain galleries. Please wear baby carriers on the front of your body to help keep everyone safe.
  • You’re welcome to nurse your baby anywhere in the museum.
  • Baby changing station available.

Free Wi-Fi

Enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Be mindful of visitors, artwork, and your surroundings when using your device.

Protect the Art

  • Dirt and oils on our skin can damage artwork so please do not touch.
  • Keep a safe distance from artwork, about 18 inches or an arm’s length.
  • Seating is available throughout the building. Do not sit or step on platforms or ledges.
  • Take your time: walk, don’t run in the galleries.

Photography & Filming

  • Visitors take personal candid-style photos in the permanent collection galleries but no flash, lighting setups, tripods, or selfie sticks.
  • Out of respect for our staff, we kindly request that you refrain from photographing or recording without their consent.
  • Group photography, including wedding and engagement, is prohibited without a permit.
  • Photography is sometimes restricted in special exhibitions so look for signage in the galleries for guidance.
  • Your photographs may not be commercially published, sold, reproduced, transferred, or distributed.
  • Be cautious around artwork and other visitors, and stay aware of your surroundings when taking photos.
  • During your visit, you may be photographed or filmed by museum staff. We may use these images in signage, printed materials, and online for any purpose, commercial or otherwise.

Rodin Museum, Garden

You must have Permission to access the outdors gardens for group photography. Access will not be granted to non-permitted groups. A printed copy of the Permission must be present at all times while onsite. The Rodin Museum and Interior Garden are open to visitors from the public and Permission does not guarantee exclusive access to the Interior Garden. Permission extends only to the Interior Garden. Permission does not include the inside of the museum.

Dates & Times:

Permission is issued in three-hour blocks: 10:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m., or 1:00 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. Permission purchased online at least 24 hours before the requested date is $100. Permission purchased day of must be purchased at the Rodin Museum Visitor Center for $200. Refunds will not be granted for inclement weather; the museum reserves the right to cancel permits pending emergency closures. The Rodin Museum and Interior Garden are closed Tuesday — Thursday, select Holidays, and for Special Events.

Sketching in the Galleries

  • Use graphite pencils only when sketching or taking notes in the galleries. Pens and colored pencils are prohibited in all galleries.
  • Please make sure your sketchbooks are 18 x 24 inches or smaller.
  • Look with your eyes—do not point at works of art with your hands or a pencil.
